More about Amal Adbulkadir, PMHNP

Amal Adbulkadir, PMHNP, provides compassionate, evidence-based psychiatric services and medication management while considering each person’s unique needs. With every patient, she thoughtfully listens and collaborates to address a wide range of psychiatric conditions. Her desire is to help people reconnect with themselves and build lives that feel more whole.

Amal started her journey in the mental health field working as a therapist in the emergency room, where she attended to people during the most vulnerable and painful moments of their lives. Over time, she noticed how often mental health care fell short when it came to follow-up support and access to medication. It was this initial experience that inspired her to make a greater impact and become a PMHNP. This way, she could blend therapeutic work with medication management, while still holding space for healing, growth, and real connection with individuals.

As a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Amal deeply respects each person’s lived experience and considers their history while creating their treatment plan with evidence-based medication management. She takes the time to truly listen—not just to symptoms, but to stories, values, and what matters most to her patients. She believes in shared decision-making, transparency, and creating a safe space where people feel seen and heard. Her goal is always to meet people where they are and help them find a path toward meaningful and sustainable healing.

Amal says, “Healing is a partnership, and I deeply value walking alongside people, wherever they are in their journey. We figure it out together, one step at a time.” She likes to remind her patients that therapy and psychiatric care aren’t about fixing something broken—it’s about finding support, understanding, and new ways to move forward.

Drawn to Mindful Health Solutions for our commitment to innovation and patient-centered care, Amal is looking forward to being able to administer treatments like esketamine and TMS because they offer hope, where traditional approaches may not have provided relief. At Mindful Health Solutions, we embrace new technologies and therapies while still keeping the human side of care front and center. This aligned perfectly with Amal’s approach. She is excited to be part of a team that values access and inclusion, and whose interventional psychiatry methods have changed the landscape of mental health care. She knows methods like esketamine, TMS therapy, and Ketamine Infusion Therapy (KIT) offer real, tangible hope for people who’ve been told, “you’ve tried everything.” Amal is inspired by how these treatments open doors for those dealing with deep, long-term depression or trauma, and she is committed to providing people with new tools for healing.

Amal encourages anyone seeking mental health care, “You don’t need to have everything figured out to start. If you’re struggling, uncertain, or just curious about what healing might look like, you’re not alone. Reaching out can be the hardest part, but it’s also the bravest.”

Personal Interests

When Amal isn’t seeing patients, you can find her enjoying the great outdoors—hiking, exploring new places, or trying new foods with people she holds dear. Travel is something she believes keeps her curious and grounded. Amal is also deeply involved in mental health advocacy and loves giving back to the community through wellness events and education.

Now, newly relocated to San Francisco, Amal has embraced the blend of nature, culture, and wellness here. She sees that there’s a certain rhythm to life here that allows for a balance between work, connection, and self-care. She’s happy to be part of a vibrant community that’s at the forefront of mental health innovation and inclusivity.

Education & Experience

After graduate school, Amal continued her work in the Emergency Room, but knew she wanted to care for others in a more impactful way in the long term. Becoming a PMHNP allowed her to offer more comprehensive support. Shortly after obtaining her PMHNP credential, she joined a community-focused practice where she worked with people from all walks of life, while also continuing her doctoral studies in clinical psychology. The journey of balancing clinical work and ongoing education has kept Amal grounded in both science and humanity.

Amal is currently completing her doctorate in Clinical Psychology, with a focus on advancing care for treatment-resistant depression. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and is actively involved in continuing education, especially around psychedelic-assisted therapy and neuromodulation techniques like TMS and esketamine. These areas reflect her commitment to bringing the best possible care to the people she serves.
