More about Candace Nolton, MD

Dr. Nolton began her work in psychiatry after medical school, where she was able to come to terms with her own mental health issues. Being diagnosed with ADD and Depression, Dr. Nolton realized how impactful and needed mental health care was and wanted to become part of those who strive to help others. She is passionate about the idea that these illnesses can happen to anyone, and that everyone deserves help along the way.

She prefers working with her patients on a personal level in order to ensure no feelings of hierarchy between doctor and patient. She chose to work with Mindful Health Solutions because of their “patient first” mentality, and wanted to create an environment where patients felt safe to be themselves and could get personalized care.

Her overall focus is in Psychotherapy, as she found throughout her experience that “when you get to the root of issues from the past people are abler to process better, which leads to better coping skills and sometimes even reduces the need for medication.”

Personal Interests

Dr. Nolton is originally from Atlanta, and is happily moving back as “there is no place like home.” She enjoys meeting new people and getting to know them, and describes her favorite hobby outside of work as the ability to keep talking to people.

Education & Experience

Post AA and BS degrees, Dr. Nolson got her MD from Morehouse School of Medicine in May of 2018. From there she worked for Morehouse in Internal Medicine until 2019, and is currently completing her Psychiatry Residency at Meharry Medical College,

She worked in Financial Representative roles until she began her undergraduate programs, one in Accounting before her other BS in Biology.
