Dr. Galerkin is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist whose areas of specialty include depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, anxiety, bipolar mood disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder, eating disorders, attention deficit disorder, and obstacles within the LGBTQ community relating to medical and social stressors. He has over thirty years of experience treating adult patients utilizing complex medication regimens, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, and guidance regarding psychological and social interventions.
He found his initial interest in psychiatry at the University of California, Berkeley, when he was engaged in molecular biology research to understand the genetic coding behind embryonic brain development. This cutting-edge field of research piqued his interest to understand the interface between the complexity of the brain as an organ and the human experience. To this day, he integrates his patient’s psychological and social well-being with the biological aspect of mental wellness to develop a treatment plan for his patient’s mental health goals.
Dr. Galerkin works collaboratively with his patients to develop a menu of solutions for meeting treatment goals. He does his best to be thoughtful, open, and provide an encouraging environment so his patients are motivated to follow through with a mutually agreed-upon treatment plan. His compassionate demeanor and medical expertise create a safe space for patients to discuss both their challenges and successes on their journey to mental wellness.
To Dr. Galerkin, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an effective solution for patients who have not found relief from medication management and therapy over several disease states and mental illness struggles. Dr. Galerkin has witnessed life-changing results for patients in his private practice and looks forward to continuing to utilize this powerful treatment option for patients.
He joined Mindful Health Solutions in the late Summer of 2020.
