About Nasratullah Wahidi, MD

Dr. Wahidi is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist with a focus on psychiatry that has neurological correlations such as such as major depression, anxiety, ADHD, neurocognitive disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), traumatic brain injury (TBI), and bipolar disorder.

His interest in behavioral health begun during his undergraduate studies while majoring in Neurobiology, Physiology and Behavior. During his clinic clerkship in medical school, he decided to pursue a career in psychiatry because he saw patients in need and found a satisfaction with working with a patient to determine the best plan for their recovery. He developed a strong, holistic approach to patient care and appreciated the unique pathology he was able to treat given his training in both neurology and psychology.

Dr. Wahidi takes a patient centered approach to care. He believes that at the center of great patient care is always a solid patient/doctor relationship that is solely focused on improving the patient’s symptoms and easing their suffering. He sees the patient and their family as integral in the process of healing. He believes his role as a doctor is first do no harm and together, with his patients, they will journey to reach the most optimal health.

He sees Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) as a great, minimally invasive tool in the fight against mental disease. He hopes to witness and advocate for continued growth in readily available treatments such as TMS. And he hopes to see TMS continue to grow and treat other conditions such as Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), chronic pain, migraines, Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and movement disorders.

He joined Mindful Health Solutions in the late summer of 2019.

personal interests

Dr. Wahidi is an advocate for the strong, positive relationship between physical and mental health. He makes a concrete effort to exercise an hour each day three to four times each week having researched the connection between aerobic exercise and reduced brain age. He also enjoys cooking, playing music and reading. Having grown up in the greater Sacramento area, he appreciates all the Bay Area has to offer, especially his family and friends.

education & experience

Dr. Wahidi attended the University of California at Davis, receiving a Bachelor’s in Science in Neurobiology Physiology and Behavior. His interest in behavior health began during his undergraduate studies. Following graduation, he briefly worked in the business world before recognizing a draw into medicine. He then attended the Ross University School of Medicine, where he received his Doctor of Medicine.

He completed his residency at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. His training included both adult and emergency, inpatient, outpatient and psychiatry consult; adult community psychiatry; additional medicine; forensics psychiatry; telepsychiatry; and geriatric psychiatry. He also received his certification in electroconvulsive therapy (ECT.) He enjoyed his years in Kentucky, the home of the derby and a state he found to be beautiful with lots of greenery.

After graduating residency, he completed his Behavioral Neurology/Neuropsychology fellowship training at University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center- Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He treated a variety of patients including ones that suffered from dementia, ALS, prior disease, traumatic brain injury (TBI), movement disease and neuroimmunological disorder. His training in neurology helped him treat his patients, deeply understanding the interface between neurology and psychiatry.

His diverse experience includes working at health clinics and managing evaluations of patients for optimal medication management. He has also worked in the hospital setting with primary duties including admission of psychiatric patients and cross-covering large hospital for psychiatric and medical emergencies.
