More about Rebecca Blakesley, PMHNP
Rebecca has always been fascinated with how the mind works and how the role of an individual’s relationships, genetics, and environmental factors contribute to their well-being. At age sixteen, Rebecca enrolled in college with a particular interest in child development, which expanded her curiosity about psychiatric conditions and holistic treatment approaches. Following years of working in psychiatric units as a Psychiatric Registered Nurse, she recently completed for nurse practitioner degree to to enhance her understanding of psychiatric conditions and treatment modalities.
She offers an empathetic approach that promotes an open environment where the patient feels comfortable addressing their concerns and specific circumstances, which then allows for individualized treatment options. She recognizes and appreciates that the decision to seek out psychiatric treatment is a major decision that often occurs when a patient is in a particularly vulnerable spot in their life. She strives to provide a supportive environment and empowers patients to make informed decisions about their psychiatric treatment.
Rebecca believes the patient should be informed of all treatment options, including non-pharmacological options such as both Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and Esketamine Nasal Spray. She believes TMS can be a great option for certain patients- especially those who are medication resistant to antidepressants or patients who have not been able to tolerate traditional pharmacological interventions. Rebecca has seen successful outcomes for patients who are medication resistant to antidepressants receive TMS with significant improvement of their depressive symptoms.
