More about Tina Chen, PMHNP

Tina Chen is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) who provides compassionate and attentive care to patients at our Mission Viejo clinic. She practices general psychiatry primarily focusing on the adult to the geriatric population.

However, her specialties include working with anxiety, depression, and ADHD. She excelled in her nursing school psychiatry class graduating at the top of her mental health class and believed she can use her strengths to help those dealing with mental health challenges. She also believes that holistic care and treatment are not just about medication and therapy alone, but it takes a whole support network as well as innovative techniques such as TMS and esketamine.

Tina joined Mindful Health Solutions with an interest in TMS and esketamine. Tina is interested in how transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) therapy and the esketamine nasal spray can improve TRD patients.

Overall, she is proud of the fact that she is in an organization where it puts patients first.

As a PMHNP, Tina Chen prefers a collaborative approach with her patients. She wants to provide knowledge and experience to empower patients, so they have the tools to make informed decisions about their available treatment options. For patients that needed guidance, Tina emphasizes spending the time to explain to her patient how the different treatment modalities work.

Personal Interests

When she is not at work, Tina loves spending time with her family and friends. Currently, she is interested in learning different computer programming languages. She has a passion for healthcare innovation and believes the marriage between healthcare and technology is the way of the future. Her other interests include dancing Zumba and learning about how to manage personal finances. On her bucket list is a trip to Galapagos Island, where she can indulge in her love for watching animals in their natural habitats.

Education & Experience

Tina graduated from the University of California Riverside with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science/Administrative Studies and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. Soon after, she started a business alongside her father in the automotive industry. From there on she earned her Teaching Credential at California State University Fullerton. But something was still missing. She wanted to find a passion to help more people. Thus, she enrolled in her community college and chose nursing as a career Graduated Magnum Cum Laude from California Baptist University with a Master of Nursing and went on and obtained a Post-Masters Certificate in Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner studies at National University.

Peppered between her degrees Tina worked hard in various industries. But her experience as a Charge Nurse at Aurora Charter Oak Behavior Hospital, allowed her to realize that she can make a difference in psychiatric patients’ lives. Tina looks forward to her new start as a PMHNP and will continue to strive for excellence in her patient care.
