Adrienne Marks, PMHNP

Adrienne received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from the University of Portland in Portland, Oregon.

She began her career at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia. Working as a clinical primary number in the Cardiovascular Services Unit, Adrienne provided care pre-and post-operative cardiovascular patients, monitoring their condition, and educating them on managing their cardiovascular disease and postoperative rehabilitation.

She received her Master of Science in Nursing, Family Nurse Practitioner, from the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, California. Clinical experience included work at Synergy Health and Urgent Care in Pleasanton, CA, where she served a wide range of patients in both family practice and urgent care. Other clinical experience included working at Mercy Doctor’s Medical Group in San Francisco, CA, an internal medicine clinic, and Dr. Ben Littlejohn Family Medicine in Emeryville, CA, a family practice clinic. She also served at Napa Valley Pediatrics, where in addition to providing care in the Pediatric clinic, she organized an LGBT health education training for all providers and staff and helped to implement new clinical guidelines to improve outcomes for LGBTQ patients.

She served as a Clinical Registered Nurse at the Napa County Crisis Stabilization Services in Napa, CA, where she cared for patients in the mental health emergency services center and assisted with outreach to community health stakeholders.

She received her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner Post Masters Certification from the University of Massachusetts in Amhurst, Massachusetts. During this time, she provided psychotherapy and medication management, serving all populations and age groups at a private practice in Napa, CA.

Most recently, she served as a Clinical Nurse in the inpatient psychiatry unit at Stanford Health Care in Palo Alto, CA. She provided acute mental health care on an inpatient psych unit and worked in an interdisciplinary team to improve patient outcomes and act as Charge RN.

In addition to her clinical practice, Adrienne is highly engaged in community involvement and mental health policy. She served as an intern for State Senator Bill Dodd and sits on multiple policy committees. She currently and has previously worked with LGBTQ+ organizations, including GLMA Health Professionals Advancing LGBTQ Equality, to increase quality and access to health care options. She also served on the Health Policy and Practice Committee for the California Association of Nurse Practitioners.
