Dr. Edgar I. Hernandez is board-certified in Adult Psychiatry. He has been practicing medicine for over 10 years. His areas of interest include psychopharmacology, interventional psychiatry, and medical education.
Dr. Hernandez has gained extensive experience treating various psychiatric disorders in diverse populations including minority patients, LGBTQ+ individuals, and veterans. He has focused his career on treating treatment-resistant mood disorders with electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS). Dr. Hernandez also has a passion for the use of new therapeutics such as ketamine infusions and Esketamine in the treatment of depression.
Dr. Hernandez provides his services in Austin, Texas. He understands the great need for mental health services in the state and is excited to be a part of the MHS team leading the way in the transformation of mental health care delivery.

Education & Experience
Dr. Hernandez received his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston. While his career began in surgery, Dr. Hernandez found that his most satisfying moments came from sitting down and talking with his patients about their problems. As his interest shifted to focus on mental health, he then completed his general psychiatry residency at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago, IL.
