Relocating to Marin in 2020, Dr. Aujla quickly became fond of the ample green spaces, proximity to a variety of cultural and community events, and health-conscious focus. That’s why you’ll find her outside or spending time with loved ones in her free time – gardening, hiking, meeting with friends, and playing with her son. Each day, she finds something to be grateful for and a reason to laugh!

More about Ritu Aujla, MD
Dr. Aujla is a second-generation, board-certified Psychiatrist with a deep appreciation for mental health and wellness, an awareness of our common humanity, and a drive to help those who are suffering. With a focus on compassion, respect, and collaboration, she aligns with her patients’ needs and goals to create a comprehensive treatment plan that helps them achieve an improved quality of life.
Above all, Dr. Aujla understands how overwhelming and isolating it can be when experiencing depression. When other treatments have failed and people are trying their best, she meets them where they’re at, providing support and encouragement when needed while listening to their past experiences in order to identify their strengths and better understand their perspective. Then, together, she helps her patients find a way forward, trying new therapies, lifestyle changes, and both medication and non-medication treatment options based on their personal preferences. She is particularly interested in the relationship between cognitive and emotional symptoms across a variety of mental health conditions, and newer therapies for treatment-resistant depression, such as TMS and IV ketamine.
To potential patients seeking mental health, she adds, “I can imagine how difficult things seem right now. I want to hear more about what you’re going through. Let us help you begin the process of healing, so that you can start feeling relief.”

Education & Experience
Upon graduating from Semmelweis Medical University, followed by her role as Clinical Supervisor & Research at Etkin Lab, Stanford University, Dr. Aujla completed her Psychiatry residency training with UCSF. Afterwards, she spent five years with Kaiser Permanente seeing patients across a variety of diagnoses and settings, with a focus on Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, ketamine, and esketamine administration.
Dr. Aujla was inspired to join Mindful Health Solutions due to the company’s long history of providing such revolutionary interventional psychiatry therapies, along with its team of caring and skilled clinicians. Here, she looks forward to specializing in these novel therapies for treatment-resistant depression, in addition to managing common co-morbid conditions such as anxiety disorders, bipolar spectrum disorders, PTSD, OCD, and ADHD.
She states, “These treatments can be more effective than medications in some cases and with fewer side effects. It’s very interesting how these treatments work to achieve improved symptoms and neuroplasticity, and can maintain the treatment benefit for weeks to months at a time.”
