TMS therapy for military and first responders addresses:

How TMS Helps You Take Back Your Life

Depression and PTSD often affect military members, first responders, and their loved ones, especially after service-related stress or trauma. These experiences can disrupt areas of the brain tied to mood, leading to persistent negative thoughts and depressive episodes.

TMS delivers targeted pulses to stimulate those brain regions, helping release mood-boosting chemicals like serotonin and dopamine. Over time, this “retraining” helps the brain naturally maintain those feel-good hormones longer than meds alone.

TMS is approved for patients who’ve tried at least two antidepressants without relief or had unpleasant side effects.

    Who We Serve

At Mindful Health Solutions, we understand that service includes the military members and first responders who protect our nation and serve our communities, as well as the loved ones who support them back home. We also know that PTSD, anxiety, and depression can affect not only those in the heat of combat, but the ones at home worrying for their health and safety as well.

That’s why we offer effective, customized mental health solutions to veterans, active-duty military, firefighters, policemen and women, and more on the front lines, regardless of years in service, combat experience, ranking, and discharge status, as well as their family, including spouses/partners, children, parents, siblings, and caregivers.

Why We Serve Our Military Families

At Mindful Health Solutions, we understand that when our men and women come home, the fight isn’t always over. We also know that veteran mental health is an often overlooked and neglected struggle. Recognizing this need for life-changing, accessible, and compassionate care, we’ve made it our mission to provide the support that breaks the cycle of negativity and puts you on the path to a happier, more fulfilling life.

    What Is TMS Therapy?

TMS, or Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation, is a revolutionary depression treatment designed to help people who have not found success with medications and/or antidepressants, utilizing magnetic fields to stimulate the specific part of the brain known to control mood. It is the first and only treatment approved by the Food and Drug Administration as a safe, non-invasive, non-medication, non-surgical treatment for clinical depression, or major depressive disorder.

Since its FDA approval as a depression treatment in 2008, studies have shown that TMS has the potential to treat a wide range of conditions, many of which can be debilitating. Although the Mindful Health Solutions team focuses primarily on alleviating the symptoms of major depression and treatment-resistant depression, our clinics also provide treatment for other conditions, including anxiety, autism in adults, Bipolar Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD), and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD).

TMS therapy has extremely limited side effects, especially when compared to traditional medications and antidepressants, so it is also a treatment option for people who may be suffering from side effects while trying to experience relief from their condition.

    How Does TMS Work?

Individuals experiencing depression are shown to have reduced electrical activity in certain areas of the brain. TMS treatment works by delivering short, highly targeted electromagnetic pulses to those areas, including the prefrontal cortex, which is the area of your brain that regulates mood. Magnetic fields allow these electromagnetic pulses to pass through the skull and stimulate affected neurons, releasing neurotransmitters and hormones such as serotonin and dopamine to relieve symptoms of depression. Once these neurons are stimulated by TMS, they continue to release these neurotransmitters for a longer period of time compared to other treatments like antidepressants.

TMS treatments typically take place 5 days a week for 4 to 6 weeks, with each session lasting 20 and 40 minutes. During each session, you sit in a comfortable chair and can read, listen to music, watch TV, or chat with a companion. You can drive yourself to and from treatment as well due to TMS’s limited side effects.

    Is TMS Safe?

Yes! TMS works by utilizing the same kind of magnets used in an MRI, which has long-standing records reporting safety, but TMS offers far less exposure to the magnetic field. More, TMS has been studied in more than 100 clinical trials and research studies worldwide since 2008, with demonstrated safety and success.

TMS treatments do not hurt during or after each session, and while you may hear an ongoing clicking sound, there are very few side effects. Some patients find the headpiece uncomfortable and may experience mild headaches during the first few treatments, which typically subside within two weeks. Most side effects, such as headaches, fatigue, lightheadedness, scalp discomfort, and facial muscle twitching or tingling, are mild and short-lasting. Serious side effects of repetitive TMS treatments are rare, and our expert providers use their professional knowledge to minimize any risks.

Because TMS only affects parts of the brain associated with mood, rather than being absorbed through the bloodstream and digestive system, it does not result in side effects often associated with traditional medications and antidepressants, such as weight gain, sexual dysfunction, stomach issues, sweating, and insomnia.
