Zlata grew up in Soviet Ukraine, and her experiences there had a major influence on her choosing mental health as a career path. While in Ukraine, she earned her master’s degree in philosophy and political science from State Schevchenko University in Kyiv. After moving to the United States, Zlata went back to school and earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and began working in psychiatry. She continued her education to become a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and later became a Doctor of Nursing Practice.

Her treatment style is notable for humor, flexibility, and thinking outside of the box. She developed her own treatment approach combining traditional medication therapy with individualized therapeutic measures based on her experience and background in ballet, art, philosophy, and natural healing approaches.
