More about Dr. Hameed

Fatimah Hameed, MD, MSc, is a multilingual, board-certified Psychiatrist who specializes in neuropsychiatry. She offers compassionate, inclusive, evidence-based care to adults facing complex neuropsychiatric conditions, where cognitive, emotional, and neurological factors overlap. Dr. Hameed works closely with patients who are struggling with mood or psychiatric disorders, as well as from other neurological issues, including psychiatric symptoms following traumatic brain injuries, strokes, long COVID, or epilepsy. She also provides care for patients with neurocognitive disorders, and can administer geriatric psychiatry, which may include patients with neurodegenerative disorders and dementia (including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease).

Dr. Hameed brings a deep understanding of how the brain, mind, and behavior are interconnected, while taking the time to truly get to know each person, stepping into their perspective and meeting them where they are. She always tailors treatment to address each patient’s needs uniquely, as she believes healing begins in a space of safety, trust, and collaboration. Her goal is for every patient to feel seen, heard, and understood in a nonjudgmental and compassionate environment.

Her approach integrates psychiatry and evidence-based interventional techniques with deep empathy and personalized care. Dr. Hameed collaboratively works with patients to identify the root issues and areas of concern. She then creates a treatment plan that not only manages symptoms but also fosters long-term resilience, insight, and meaningful change. Whether through therapy, medication, or interventional treatments, Dr. Hameed provides the tools and support patients need to feel empowered in their healing journey.

Dr. Hameed is passionate about the interventional psychiatric techniques Mindful Health Solutions offers because they offer effective options for patients who haven’t found relief through traditional treatments alone. For patients struggling with treatment-resistant conditions or complex neuropsychiatric symptoms, approaches like TMS therapy and esketamine can create meaningful change by directly engaging the brain’s circuitry. Dr. Hameed is driven by the opportunity at MHS to blend modern advances in psychiatry with compassionate care, offering patients new pathways to relief, resilience, and recovery.

Personal Interests

When she’s not caring for patients, Dr. Hameed enjoys cooking (especially experimenting with different ethnic cuisines), going on hikes with her cat, and hosting game nights with friends. She also enjoys leaning into her creative side by making pottery and being active by skiing and kickboxing — all activities that keep her both grounded and energized.

Traveling is also a longtime passion of hers, especially when it involves new cultures, food, and a good bit of adventure. Dr. Hameed values staying curious and open, both in her personal life and in her work with patients.

Education & Experience

Dr. Hameed’s interest in the mental health field began while she completed her clinical rotations as a medical student. She appreciated every rotation she experienced, but it was the profound human connection she was able to create with patients in psychiatric care that made her work in medicine feel more meaningful at the end of the day.

Dr. Hameed completed a four-year psychiatry residency at the University of Central Florida College of Medicine as chief resident, earning numerous awards in academic teaching and excellency as a resident. She then furthered her training by completing a fellowship in Behavioral Neurology & Neuropsychiatry at Brown University Warren Alpert Medical School. Throughout her training, she has engaged extensively in psychiatric research, with presentations at international conferences and publications. These experiences as a whole deepened her understanding of how neurological and psychiatric processes influence one another.

Now a board-certified psychiatrist through the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Dr. Hameed is licensed to practice in the state of California. Overall, she truly enjoys the complex nature and intellectual challenge of neuropsychiatry, untangling the nuances between where the mind and the brain interconnect and how that connection shapes behavior, emotion, and cognition.
