More about Philip Creps
Dr. Philip Creps is a board-certified psychiatrist in Mission Viejo with a broad focus throughout his practice. He offers a wide range of therapies in addition to medication management, including DBT, CBT, motivational interviewing, and other psychotherapies, as well as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) therapy in Mission Viejo for treatment-resistant depression. One thing he likes specifically about working in psychiatry is that all patients are able to be treated as individuals, and its important to listen to them, and coach them to work from the basis of their strengths.
As a psychiatrist, his working style with patients is a therapeutic alliance, approaching his role as a technical assistant. His most important skills are teaching patients (about potential side effects of medication, why certain recommendations are made, etc.) and listening to his patients. He thoroughly enjoys hearing their stories, how their problems developed, and things that have made it better or worse in the past. Assisting patients in giving him information is critical for diagnosis, and then making the best recommendations for treatment.
In 2010, Dr. Philip Creps completed a course in TMS at the annual American Psychiatric Association (APA) convention, and saw its benefit in treatment-resistant depression in Arizona. From then on he became a fan of its use, and looks forward to its development for other illnesses. He encourages options such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and esketamine, because they are noninvasive and therapeutic interventions that have great benefit for treating patients with long-lasting results.
