More about Adriana Galvez, LCSW

Adriana stepped into the mental health field fueled by a personal mission: to provide the kind of nurturing support and care she would desire for her own family if they were dealing with emotional or psychological crisis. Her unique experience, having been on both ends of the mental health system, has given her an intimate understanding of the obstacles that might arise while seeking high-quality, empathetic mental health care.

Adriana’s primary area of expertise lies in trauma therapy and addiction, but her skillset extends comfortably across a broad spectrum of mental health and emotional concerns. She prioritizes understanding the root causes and symptoms over assigning labels. Her proficiency as an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) specialist makes her particularly adept at treating post-traumatic stress disorder, among other issues.

Working with a client-centered and systems approach, Adriana views the individual in the context of their life’s multiple elements and their interconnected relationships. This approach guides her understanding of a person’s evolution, worldview, and supportive networks. Adriana perceives her role as a collaborator rather than an authority, committed to guiding her clients towards the most beneficial paths and equipping them with the tools necessary for success. Emphasizing self-actualization, she never imposes decisions but instead fosters an environment where clients feel empowered to own their choices.

Personal Interests

Outside of work, Adriana enjoys spending time with her children, cooking, and traveling.

Education & Experience

After Adriana graduated college, she worked for 12 years as a clinician and supervisor at a group of community mental health clinics. She utilized individual and group therapy, addressing many areas of treatment and intervention: addiction, co-occurring disorders, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, and more. After leaving the community health setting, she focused on building clients within the telehealth medicine clientele in both public and private practice. Today, she is excited to work with a dynamic group of clinicians focused on expanding quality service options via telehealth.
