More about Desiree Sayre, LCSW

Desiree Sayre is a psychotherapist who is particularly drawn to the transformative power of empathy and compassion in the healing journey. Trained extensively in EMDR, CBT, ACT, and mindfulness, she tackles a broad spectrum of mental health issues, ranging from relationship conflicts and emotional dysregulation to PTSD and anxiety disorders. Desiree strongly believes that healing starts with being seen, heard, and valued, and this mindset deeply influences her therapy sessions.

Her passion for mental health was kindled through her innate ability to connect and listen to people’s stories. Realizing that listening was just the first step, she pursued education and training to add structure and science to her natural skills. This blend of compassion and expertise now fuels her practice, allowing her to engage deeply with patients and guide them effectively through their healing journey.

In her interactions with patients, Desiree maintains a relaxed yet productive atmosphere. She’s an active participant in her patients’ struggles, offering them practical tools and therapies for recovery. Her extensive training in EMDR often brings quick and profound relief to her clients, effectively helping them move past traumatic experiences. Desiree also incorporates elements of CBT, ACT, and mindfulness, offering a comprehensive approach to mental wellness.

The decision to join Mindful Health Solutions was driven by the practice’s commitment to its clinicians and patients alike. Besides resonating with the team, the opportunity to work with Medicare patients and utilize innovative treatments like TMS and Ketamine made the decision a no-brainer.

She finds TMS and Ketamine to be game-changers in the treatment of mental health. TMS offers a non-invasive, effective treatment with fewer side effects compared to traditional antidepressants. Ketamine’s fast-acting properties and ability to forge new neural connections present another groundbreaking option for treatment.

With an empathetic ear and a wealth of clinical tools, Desiree invites you to begin your healing journey with her at Mindful Health Solutions. She believes in meeting patients where they are and walking the path of recovery together.

Education & Experience

Desiree Sayre’s professional journey in the mental health field began in the realm of community medicine. Her initial role saw her primarily assisting women and children, a large portion of whom were immigrants or refugees seeking asylum. Many had undergone significant trauma and were grappling with the complexities of abusive relationships. In this challenging setting, Desiree was entrusted with novel responsibilities like conducting healing yoga classes and implementing art therapy programs, broadening her therapeutic toolkit early on.

Following this enriching experience, she transitioned to working at a VA outpatient clinic. There, she honed her skills further by offering a diverse range of services, including individual therapy, group therapy, and couples therapy specifically tailored for veterans. This experience deepened her understanding of the unique mental health needs faced by those who have served in the military.

In 2021, Desiree made a strategic career shift, moving to remote work. Now, she offers therapy online, leveraging technology to continue providing invaluable mental health support. This flexibility allows her to reach a broader clientele while utilizing her extensive experience to offer nuanced, empathetic care.
