More about DJ Griffith, PhD, LPCC

Dr. DJ Griffith (they/them) is a skilled psychotherapist specializing in treating PTSD, OCD, neurodiversity, gender dysphoria, depression, anxiety, and substance use/co-occurring disorders. With extensive experience across various settings, including crisis intervention, substance abuse treatment, and both inpatient and outpatient mental health care, Dr. DJ brings a well-rounded approach to therapy. They offer personalized one-on-one virtual psychotherapy sessions and also facilitate virtual psychotherapy groups (specializing in Seeking Safety for PTSD), providing a supportive and flexible environment for mental health care. Dr. DJ began working with MHS as a psychotherapist, and they have progressed into their role of Director of Psychotherapy. In this role, they have created several group therapy curriculums, including groups for Esketamine and TMS.

Dr. DJ Griffith believes that as a therapist, they are joining with their patients and letting them lead the session. Dr. DJ is there to guide and assist them when needed, but it is up to the patient to do the work toward recovery and relief. They are trained in several modalities including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Emotional Transformation Therapy (ETT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP). They like facilitating groups and watching the group dynamics help each person in the group to gain something from the interactions. In one-to-one therapy, Dr. DJ can help guide a person to reach their goals and realize their potential.

They first planned to pursue a career in school counseling and began a Master of Education degree program following undergraduate graduation. After meeting with their advisor, they added mental health counseling to their degree. While working on an internship, they realized their passion and calling was in mental health treatment, and that was what they were meant to do.

Their therapeutic approach aligns with Mindful Health Solutions, where patients have access to several different treatments and an integrated, comprehensive approach to finding relief and recovery from their struggles, whether through psychotherapy and different modalities or with medication assistance or an interventional treatment such as Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) or esketamine nasal spray.

Personal Interests

Outside of work, Dr. DJ enjoys spending time in the Pacific Northwest with their girlfriend, friends, and family. They like to stay active by hiking, roller skating, playing sports, and working out. They have a passion for keeping their mind and body young, and to never stop learning. Dr. DJ has presented at several professional conferences, both individually and with a colleague from graduate school.

Education & Experience

Dr. DJ completed their Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio.

They completed their Master of Education in Mental Health and School Counseling from Bowling Green State University, where they graduated with honors.
In August 2024, they completed their PhD in Counselor Education and Supervision from Capella University in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Following completion of their master’s degree, they became licensed and worked in Ohio before moving to California. They have worked in assessment/referral, crisis intervention, outpatient therapy, and co-occurring substance abuse/mental health inpatient and outpatient treatment as a therapist. Soon after becoming independently licensed, they became a program director of a forensic intensive outpatient full-service partnership.

In their most recent role, Mindful Health Solutions, they served as a program director at Recovery International in Rancho Mirage, CA. They provided overall day-to-day leadership and directed program services/supervision.
