Dr. Bermudes is Board Certified in Adult Psychiatry and Family Medicine, with 20 years’ experience caring for patients. He founded Mindful Health Solutions in 2007, serves as the practice’s Medical Director, and is an expert on TMS practice organization and policy development. He recently wrote and edited “Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation: Clinical Applications for Psychiatric Practice”, a book with key research findings on TMS as well as its potential to be used for other conditions such as OCD, PTSD, Adolescent Depression and mild dementia. He is experienced in treating patients with MDD (Major Depressive Disorder), including Unipolar Depression.
Dr. Bermudes is a caring, collaborative practitioner with a structured, goal-oriented approach to treating mental health conditions. His treatment plans may include TMS, medication management or cognitive therapy.
Krishna Bezwada, MD: Medication Management and TMS
Dr. Bezwada is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist whose areas of focus include depression, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, and substance abuse. He has over ten years of experience treating patients. He has always excelled at treating the more challenging patients who may have dual diagnoses.
He comes from a long line of doctors in his family, and while always knowing he would likely pursue medicine, Psychiatry connected with him following medical school. He had been intrigued by brain disorders and knew that the brain was the most powerful organ in the body. He strongly believed that our thoughts influence our lives, and that this was an important and interesting component of our lives. An externship in Psychiatry strengthened his interest and soon after, he began his Psychiatry Residency.
Dr. Bezwada has a flexible, amenable style with patients. Forming an excellent therapeutic relationship with the patient is of utmost importance to him. He spends time with patients to listen to them and educate them on the potential treatment plans. He provides guidance to patients to achieve their goals.
Having treating patients with Electro Convulsive Therapy (ECT) for years and recognizing the promising recovery and remission rates with neuro stimulation, Dr. Bezwada is pleased to integrate Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) into his patient care. TMS may help patients who have not found relief from medications alone and has minimal to no side effects.
He joined Mindful Health Solutions in the late Summer of 2020.
Lauren Marasa, MD: Medication Management, TMS and Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)
Dr. Marasa is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist. Her areas of focus include depression, anxiety, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), neurocognitive disorders and traumatic brain injury (TBI).
While she had always been attracted to the fields of science and medicine, growing up she had dreams of working for the FBI. Though eventually learning that it wasn’t quite like what is portrayed on TV, her interest remained. After she finished her chief residency year in general psychiatry, she completed a forensic psychiatry fellowship focused on the intercept between psychiatry and law. In fact, she continues to provide expert witness and testimony in a variety of civil and criminal cases.
Dr. Marasa finds that no two patients are ever the same in psychiatry, and she recognizes and appreciates what makes each person unique. She listens to each patient and assesses his or her symptoms, tailoring the treatment approach uniquely to that person. She makes it a point to understand the biologic and genetic factors, psychological factors and social factors to develop individualized treatment options for each patient. She then uses a collaborative approach to offer the patient various treatment options while discussing the risks, benefits, side effects, and alternatives to each. Ultimately, it is team effort to develop a personalized treatment plan for each patient.
She offers her patients the best psychiatric treatment with a broad range of treatment options. She is especially intrigued by Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), where she can treat her patients with the latest in neuromodulation noninvasively. Although she takes pride in staying up-to-date with latest advances in the field of psychiatry, she believes in the motto, “No one cares what you know until they know that you care.”
She joined Mindful Health Solutions in the Summer of 2019.
Kulwant Singh, MD: Medication Management and TMS
Dr. Singh is a Psychiatrist with a focus on diagnosing and treating mental illness such as depression and anxiety disorders. He is a seasoned clinician with over twenty-five years of extensive experience helping a wide range of patients in different settings.
Initially working as a physician in Emergency Medicine for over fifteen years, Dr. Singh pursued psychiatry after a personal experience with great grief. He found he was able to relate and help people get through challenging occurrences in their lives, and discover a new sense of well-being as they worked with him for relief and recovery from their particular struggles.
In his work with patients, Dr. Singh wants his patients to feel listened to and at ease with him. He is a caring, involved practitioner and wants to learn about his patients holistically, understand applicable family dynamics, and form a partnership with them to offer his support and improve compliance of treatment plan. He finds this helps open his patients to accepting his recommendations as he builds trust with them.
Having treated many patients through the years, he knows that sometimes medications do not work to provide sufficient relief. For these patients, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) may help and doesn’t have the side effects found with psychopharmacology alone.
He joined Mindful Health Solutions in the late fall of 2020.
Ksenia Voronina, MD: Medication Management, TMS and Electroconvulsive Therapy (ECT)
Dr. Voronina is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist with a focus on novel approaches to treatment-resistant depression.
She has always welcomed the more challenging patients, where she considers the pathology, past, psychology and stressors to find the best, most long-lasting treatment possible. She first learned about Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) during her residency at the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and was intrigued by the promising data for treatment of patients who hadn’t found relief with medication alone. Having interest in novel treatments, improvement of brain connectivity and procedural medicine, she values the ability to perform brain stimulation that is very targeted.
As a dynamic provider, Dr. Voronina enjoys forming a more holistic impression of her patients informed by their culture and developmental journey. She is passionate in helping her patients get back on track. Dr. Voronina is a compassionate physician with gentle yet direct style. She understands and validates each person’s experience, enjoying hearing the stories and thinking through their treatment needs.
