Carolina Bonilla, MD: Medication Management, OCD Management, and TMS
Dr. Carolina Bonilla is Board Certified in Adult and Geriatric Psychiatry. Her areas of expertise include late-life depression, grief, and treatment-resistant depression.
From an early age, Dr Bonilla was keenly interested in human behavior and in neuroscience, and determined to pursue a career in psychiatry. Through her work with geriatric patients, she developed a holistic approach that integrates physical, social, and medical aspects of health. She is rewarded by working closely with each patient, to create a treatment plan that considers the patient’s personal goals, values and specific medical and social conditions to treat their mental health conditions, and make meaningful changes in their lives that enable them to recover and thrive.
A native of Colombia, Dr. Bonilla is fluent in Spanish and particularly knowledgeable about women’s issues and Latin America. She has also a deep appreciation and respect for other cultures, and has worked successfully with patients from many other ethnic, religious and cultural backgrounds.
Amy Ellis, MD: Medication Management and TMS
Dr. Ellis is a Board Certified Psychiatrist with deep credentials in community health centers, public hospitals, inpatient centers and private practice. She has years of experience treating patients with mental illness and helping them grow to their full potential.
A few years into medical school, Dr. Ellis was driven to pursue psychiatry after personally witnessing the power of medication plus psychotherapy to provide healing for someone suffering with depression. She saw recovery for patients with mental illness that involved both psychiatry and neurology. She also viewed psychiatry as a way to help people find a more positive outlook on life. In retrospect, this desire to help others began early in life as she has always been an avid volunteer and enjoys helping people feel better.
Dr. Ellis finds a goal-oriented approach is very effective when treating patients. She works with patients to set realistic goals that are attainable during or after each visit. Over time, she finds this helps patients achieve success and positive outcomes. She is seen by patients as being upbeat, and she tends to find positivity at her core.
Her focus on anxiety, depression, psychosis, and PTSD led her to first come across Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), as she saw it provided an additional treatment modality to further help patients achieve a successful outcome in treatment. She sees psychiatric treatment as historically involving medication management, with TMS as the newer, safe, efficacious modality that offers similar success. She is well-versed in helping patients manage their medication regiment and looks forward to adding TMS as another treatment in helping her patients find relief and live happier lives.
She joined Mindful Health Solutions in August of 2017.
Stephen Ramondino, MD: Medication Management and TMS
Dr. Ramondino is a Board-Certified Adult Psychiatrist who focuses on patients with depression and those people who may be treatment-resistant, having not felt relief from their depressive symptoms with medication and therapy alone.
Entering medical school, he found he had a wide swath of interests. Biology, psychology, neuroscience and social science all were subjects that piqued his curiosity. Plus, he wanted to help people who were having struggles in their lives. A confluence of his intellectual interests and his strong commitment to help others led him to Psychiatry.
Dr. Ramondino strikes a balance between being kind and engaging with his patients while always striving to let them know he takes their concerns and problems seriously, respectfully and empathetically. He values the importance of the therapeutic relationship. Having worked in a variety of clinical settings, from outpatient clinics to hospitals to private practices, he is well versed in and ready to solve many psychiatric problems. He sees patients sixteen years of age and up.
With his extensive and varied background, he has found that many patients are not able to find desired change or results with medications, psychotherapies, or alternative/complementary treatments alone. He uses Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS), an effective treatment with relatively few risks and side effects, as an important tool to utilize in these situations.
He joins TMS in the beginning of 2019.
Terri Fox, PMHNP: Medication Management
Terri is a board-certified psychiatric nurse practitioner and board-certified in family practice as well. Her focus is on depression, anxiety, trauma, women’s and adolescent health, ADHD, PTSD, and LGBTQ issues. She has over thirty years of experience in nursing and providing care to patients and their families.
After several years in hospital nursing. Terri went back to school to become a nurse practitioner. In working with patients in Family Practice, she saw first-hand how the mind and body were connected. After reading the book “The Body Keeps the Score” by Bessel Van Der Kolk, MD she learned how trauma impacted our brain chemistry. Her eyes were opened to how much more we know about the brain and mood, and things that affect the two. She went back to school to specialize in psychiatry.
She views the relationship she builds with patients as a collaboration. She believes in empowering her patients to help make decisions in their treatment plans and educates them for informed, carefully considered choices. Being a lifelong learner herself, education and explanation is an important element in her patient care. She is a partner in her patients’ treatment and recovery.
For Terri, Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is an exciting treatment tool for depression and other conditions. Patients rave about the results they receive for relief of depressive symptoms that they were not able to fully obtain before. Terri has witnessed changed lives through TMS.
Terri joined Mindful Health Solutions in the Summer of 2020.
